Launching a new, international arena for aquaculture

Aquaculture is developing at a pace that traditional meeting places can no longer support. The industry is demanding greater exhibition capacity, better facilities for professional processes and a clearer global platform for technology, policy and cooperation. In response, Norwegian Promotion Group AS (NPG) and AqKva AS are launching Global Aqua, a new global arena developed to bring together and drive forward the players who are shaping the future of aquaculture.

Global Aqua is held at Nova Spektrum in Lillestrøm just outside Oslo, chosen for its professional infrastructure, scalable capacity and central position close to political and professional decision-making environments. The location makes it possible to create an arena that can support both today’s and tomorrow’s needs for international interaction, technology presentations and complex professional discussions.

An industry undergoing global change, and a need for a larger framework

Aquaculture is in the midst of an international shift. New species, more advanced technology, increasing requirements for environmental and sustainability documentation and a rapidly growing global market, mean that the need for an arena with professional weight, political relevance and international reach is greater than ever.

” The industry has changed faster than our meeting places. It requires an arena that matches the ambitions, challenges the status quo and lifts the discussion up to a global level, says Hans Runshaug, CEO of AqKva AS.

Global Aqua has been established precisely to meet this need, both for the industry as it is today, and as it will develop in the years to come.

An arena that will drive development

Global Aqua combines a modern international trade fair with a strategic and professional conference. Here, producers, technology suppliers, research communities, politicians and investors meet to develop, discuss and decide on solutions that can lift aquaculture further.

“Global Aqua will be global – in content, level and influence,” says Lars Vegar Furset, COO of NPG. “We are building a meeting place that will help shape the next phase in the development of international aquaculture.

Ambition: A new standard for international aquaculture events

Global Aqua aims to gather over 600 exhibitors and 30,000 visitors from all over the world. The event will represent a broad diversity of species and reflect aquaculture’s global ecosystem, far beyond the Norwegian salmon and trout segment.

The goal is to establish a meeting place where aquaculture, technology, politics, research and capital interact to develop the solutions the world needs to produce more healthy, sustainable and responsible seafood.
