HavExpo 2026 to be held from 5 to 7 May

Background

HavExpo 2026 will be held for the third time from 5 to 7 May. The aquaculture fair with its associated conference over three days, has grown into the largest single event in Vestland and Norway’s second largest technology fair for aquaculture.

A bit of history and development

The first HavExpo was planned for 6-7 May 2020. Even then, there was a lot of interest. However, the start was tough, as the country shut down during the pandemic and the fair had to be cancelled less than two months before opening. The first HavExpo was therefore held in May 2022 and the second in May 2024.

HavExpo has shown, and is showing, strong growth in a market with great competition for trade fair participants. From 2024 to 2026, the fair has grown by over 30% in stand area, 30% more registered visitors and more of these distributed among other nations. Around 15 nations are so far represented among visitors, from Asia in the east to Chile, Africa and of course Europe. For the first time, a delegation from Ghana, from a high ministry level, will come to learn about Norwegian technology and discuss cooperation to develop aquaculture in Ghana.

The number of exhibitors is a new record with over 300 and around 20,000 visitors are expected.

The event helps to strengthen Bergen as a “Sea City” and HavExpo places great emphasis on getting visitors to extend their stay to experience the Bergen region as tourists as well.

The fair itself takes place at Sotra Arena and there is an extensive program for shuttle buses back and forth between Bergen city center and Sotra Arena.

HavExpo will be opened on 5 May at 11.03 by Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Affairs Marianne Sivertsen Næss.
