Dr De
Boever is a postdoctoral researcher in Microbial and Molecular Ecology at the
Scottish Association for Marine Science (SAMS). His work integrates
laboratory experimentation, molecular biology, genomics and data analysis to
understand how microbial interactions shape algal growth, evolution, and
resilience. He develops and applies genomic and transcriptomic approaches
across bacteria and eukaryotic algae, spanning highly controlled laboratory
systems to complex microbial dynamics in natural environments. Increasingly,
his research explores the diversity of eukaryotic microbes and their untapped
biotechnological potential. Through this, he aims to translate ecological
insights into sustainable applications for aquaculture and algal
biotechnology.
