Andre Van is the Fish Health Manager at
Kames Fish Farming, the UK’s largest producer of trout. He holds a PhD in
fish immunology from the University of Stirling and a master’s degree in
human genetics from University College London. In his role, Andre is
responsible for optimising fish health and welfare across the company. This
includes working closely with farm managers on production planning,
developing, and evaluating vaccines and treatments, and serving as the
primary point of contact for any fish health challenges. Andre also plays a
key role in strengthening the link between academia and industry. He is
actively involved in the development and testing of innovative solutions with
practical value for the aquaculture sector, ensuring that cutting‑edge
research translates into real‑world impact.
