Melanie Siggs joins LRQA as Global Head of Seafood, bringing more than 20 years of experience across fisheries, aquaculture and sustainable food systems. Throughout her career, she has held global strategic leadership roles spanning both commercial and NGO organisations, helping to drive innovation, sustainability and responsible sourcing across seafood and wider natural resource sectors.
Prior to joining LRQA, Melanie spent more than 14 years as a strategic adviser to the Global Seafood Alliance and has held a diverse portfolio of leadership positions across the global blue food economy. She currently serves as Chair of Fisheries Innovation & Sustainability (FIS), Non-Executive Director of the UK government marine science agency Cefas, and Honorary Professor at Heriot-Watt University, roles she will continue alongside her work with LRQA.
Melanie has advised some of the world’s leading organisations, including serving for nearly eight years as a Project Advisor to the World Economic Forum’s Ocean Program and as Special Adviser to HRH The Prince of Wales’ International Sustainability Unit. A recognised thought leader in sustainable seafood, she is a frequent speaker and facilitator for organisations including the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the World Economic Forum, the Global Shrimp Forum and The Economist.
As Global Head of Seafood at LRQA, Melanie leads the company’s global seafood strategy across aquaculture, wild-capture fisheries and end-to-end seafood supply chains, supporting clients as they navigate evolving expectations around assurance, traceability, sustainability, labour standards and responsible sourcing. She holds an MSc in Responsibility and Business Practice from the University of Bath.
