Dr Ellison’s research focuses on host–pathogen interactions, molecular parasitology, and the role of chronoparasitology in understanding disease dynamics across captive and wild animal populations. She is particularly interested in how circadian rhythms, immunity, microbiomes, and environmental change shape pathogen transmission and host fitness. Dr Ellison’s work integrates next‑generation sequencing and bioinformatics to investigate evolutionary and ecological drivers of infection. She has held research fellowships and leads projects on aquaculture health, fish diseases, and parasite behaviour.
