Aquaculture UK is pleased to announce our 2021 seminar, entitled ‘How do you make your aquaculture business sustainable?

The seminar will be held at the Macdonald Aviemore Resort, Scotland, from 13.00 until 17.00 on Monday 17 May 2021 (the afternoon before the opening of the Aquaculture UK 2021 exhibition). An early-bird discount is available for registrations received before 30 June 2020.

We all hear the word ‘sustainability’ but what does it actually mean and how can you make your aquaculture business more sustainable on a day-to-day basis, and how can you successfully promote and sell your truly sustainably-produced products?

Hear from leading experts who will address these questions and many others. Network and share best practices on sustainability, and learn from business case studies and success stories.

Presentations will include an overview of the area, given by Melanie Siggs, Global Aquaculture Alliance Director of Strategic Engagements. Selina Stead, Head of the Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling will explain how the Institute works with businesses to facilitate sustainability. Maud van Den Haspel, Outreach Manager for the Aquaculture Stewardship Council will explain the real benefits of ‘certifying sustainability’.

There will also be a number of short presentations answering the question ‘What am I doing in my business to improve sustainability?’ Presenters will be drawn from across aquaculture, including presentations from Mowi, and Benchmark Breeding and Genetics.

A panel of presenters will also discuss questions such as how to work together to improve sustainability, what support and advice is available on sustainability issues, and how can a sustainability plan be made and implemented.

If you are a producer, a supplier to the industry, if you work in trade or in marketing and sales of your products or services, or if you work closely with the aquaculture industry whether it be research, advisory, educational or governmental, then this seminar will provide a wealth of knowledge, guidance and details of hands-on experience that will show how the road towards sustainability in aquaculture can be navigated.
